Nobue Tanaka-Ellis (2023)
The field of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has been progressing rapidly from its conception along with the ever-evolving landscapes of language education and educational technology. This book aims to present and critically analyse a range of issues associated with the use of technology in language education in different contexts which have been growing in prominence in recent years. The topics encompass both key and emerging issues in the discipline, including theories and practice, learning environments and tools, and other pedagogical issues closely related but not limited to CALL. Together with the traditional teaching practice, more recent approaches such as CLIL and 21st Century skills are looked at. The book also examines how the social aspects of learning with technology may influence in shaping the discipline of language education with technology. The target audience is language teachers and researchers who wish to gain insights into technology in language education in a well-structured manner and pre- and in-service teachers who plan to incorporate technology into their classrooms.
