Aims & Scope

Climate Change and Humanity is dedicated to multidisciplinary research that explores the intricate relationships between climate change and human societies. It addresses the multifaceted challenges and intertwined complexities of climate crisis, economies, human societies and cultures to foster dialogue and dissemination of knowledge. We encourage original contributions from and related to developing countries, SIDS, LLDCs, and LDCs, as well from developed countries that comprise research articles, reviews, and case studies that combine cutting-edge and rigorous research on environmental and socio-economic dimensions of climate change to human experiences.

Climate Change and Humanity invites manuscripts on one or more of the following themes:

- Climate change and the humanitarian crisis
- Social justice and equity
- Culture and climate change
- Climate change, health and well-being
- Feminist and decolonial perspectives
- Economy and the environment
- Climate governance and policy
- Communities, movements, and advocacy for climate justice
- Knowledge Systems for sustainable development
- Education and environment

We welcome further thematic areas that focus on the following:

- Cities, urban development, and economic expansion
- The nexus between climate and energy development in the context of national, subregional and community scales
- Climate, communities and coping with disasters
- Climate governance frameworks and its implications in the context of lived realities
- Migration, mobility & Immobility in the context of climate change
- Indigenous and local knowledge systems for local adaptation and tackling maladaptation
- Humanitarian aid & development as responses to inclusive climate action and justice

In keeping human narratives at the core, Climate Change and Humanity endeavors to bridge the gap between climate change research and its interactions with social structures, and facilitate real-world solutions for equitable societies.

Peer Review Process

Climate Change & Humanity uses a double-blind peer review process where manuscripts that are sent out for review (i.e., those that pass through the initial check for length, quality, and relevance by the Editor-in-Chief) will be sent to at least two reviewers who will provide their feedback to the Editor-in-Chief in a timely manner, preferably within three weeks. In the case of a split decision, additional reviewers will be assigned to the manuscript to ensure a fair review process. Please note that this may delay the final outcome of the review. For special issues, the guest editor(s) of the issue will assign reviewers and recommend an outcome to the Editor-in-Chief, who makes the final decision about whether to accept the manuscript.
