Digital Applied Linguistics is inviting applications for the role of Special Collection/Issue Editor

2024-11-15

Digital Applied Linguistics (DAL) is the first and only journal that sits at the intersection of applied linguistics and digital interfaces. It serves as a platform for interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing language-related challenges and solutions in digital contexts. As such, we aspire to make an impact within and beyond academia, welcome various article types and methodologies, and value good scientific practice. We are excited to be seeking Special Collection/Issue Editors to build on the journal's strong foundations and continue to develop Digital Applied Linguistics as a core community resource.

The Special Collection/Issue Editor will be responsible for the commissioning and management of Special Collection/Issue programme. This includes:

  • preparing Special Collection/Issue proposals
  • recommending acceptance of manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief
  • working with Editor-in-chief to put together Call for Papers and oversee an ethical and timely peer review process
  • encouraging international submissions via journal promotional activities, e.g. via relevant networks, whilst at conferences, etc.
  • ensuring the quality and soundness of articles published in the journal by considering their compliance with ethical standards of scientific research

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the development and management of an academic journal with a global profile. We welcome applications from researchers who are passionate about shaping the research agenda and building diverse networks and communities in their field. We are committed to diversity and strongly encourage individuals from all backgrounds, including underrepresented communities to apply. We consider applications from researchers at all career stages, but we envisage this role will suit an ambitious mid-career researcher looking to consolidate their position as a leader in their field.

What We Require

Ideal candidates will have a strong record of publication in journals of good standing and be recognised scholars in the area of applied linguistics.

Sufficient experience as a reviewer and editorial experience, for example, Special Issue Editor, with refereed academic journals.
