About the Journal
Innovation, Theory, and Practice in Education (ITPE) is an international peer-reviewed journal focused on understanding the intersection between innovative technologies, instructional design, and current teaching and learning theories in varied educational settings. Using this holistic approach, ITPE will provide readers with the latest research and theoretical analysis on integrating innovation in K-12, higher education classrooms, and workplace training.
ITPE includes research, theoretical, and position papers on innovative instructional models based on current research on teaching and learning, such as immersive problem-based and experiential learning, and integrating innovative learning technologies with instructional design principles. This journal aims to provide a comprehensive review of innovation in practice in multiple educational settings using the combined lens of theory, instructional design, and technology integration into real-world educational settings.
Submission of articles that report on original research, classroom or project descriptions and evaluations, syntheses of the literature, assessments of state-of-the-art integration practices, and theoretical or conceptual positions that relate to the integration of innovation in k12, higher education, or workplace training with a focus on the theoretical basis for the innovation are encouraged.
We welcome multiple types of manuscripts, including research papers, essays on concepts and theory, and papers describing current or future classroom projects.
- Research Papers are reviews of original research. They must review the literature, including relevant learning theory, a description of the methods employed, analyses used, results, and recommendations for implementation in educational practice.
- Conceptual essays provide a well-developed, logical perspective on a subject that is relevant to innovation in an educational setting. They should provide a review of relevant literature and include multiple viewpoints while focusing on the alignment of theory, innovation, and educational practice.
- The Classroom Project papers focus on the real-world integration of innovative technologies, curricula, or methods supported by learning theories. They must include a theoretical framework to justify this integration.
Manuscripts considered for publication will be double-blind and reviewed by two specialists in fields of study closely related to the submission. The goal is to assess the submission’s contribution to understanding theoretical and practical issues associated with defining the alignment of learning theory, innovation, and practice in educational settings. All manuscripts must be in American Psychological Association (APA) 7 format.
