Submission Guidelines

Manuscript Guidelines

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the APA format as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). Manuscripts not conforming to these specifications will be returned to the author for proper formatting.

The manuscripts should be 8-15 double-spaced pages using U.S. standard letter size (8.5 " x 11"), excluding the Reference list. They should be formatted in MS Word using only two fonts (Times and Arial) in 12 points.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts considered for publication will be double blind reviewed for their presentation and analysis of new empirical data using appropriate research methods, development of theories relevant to language learning and teaching, development or refinement of language learning pedagogies, and discussion papers relevant to teachers and learners of languages at all levels. 

Consider titles that are not too informal or that narrow the focus too much (only include a specific country in the title if you feel that it has a crucial impact on the study), and ensure the writing is clear throughout. Proofread manuscripts thoroughly before submission, as large amounts of grammatical errors can make it difficult for reviewers to read the manuscript, which may have a detrimental effect on their evaluation of your research.

Guidelines for AI use

Using AI in the writing and review process raises important ethical considerations, particularly transparency and accountability. ITPE must ensure that any AI tools employed support, rather than replace, the human judgment essential to academic publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors should be made aware of how AI tools are being used and the limitations they may have throughout the submission and review procedures.

Author Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI

If AI was used in the manuscript's creation, authors must disclose this in the acknowledgment section, describing how the AI was utilized and which specific tasks it performed. For example, Generative AI was used as a writing and drafting tool to prepare this manuscript. However, all authors take full responsibility for the integrity of the work, the accuracy of the data, and the interpretation of results.

Alternatively, the authors can state that no AI was used in the manuscript’s creation, e.g., The authors confirm that no AI-based tools were employed in the creation, analysis, or writing of this manuscript.

Journal Reviewer Guidelines on the Use of Generative AI

AI is limited in its ability to understand the contextual nuances and creative aspects of a paper that are essential in peer review. For example, it cannot fully grasp the paper's theoretical contributions, the appropriateness of the research design, or the implications of the findings in the broader field. These aspects must remain within the purview of human reviewers, who agree to develop their evaluations based on their expertise in the field.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION GUIDELINES

Manuscripts should be between  6000 and 8000 words excluding the Reference list. The papers should be formatted in MS Word using only two fonts (Times, Arial) in 12 points. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the APA format as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). Manuscripts not conforming to these specifications will be returned to the author for proper formatting.

General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published or are currently being reviewed for publication in another journal.  The author will designate that they did not use AI to generate the paper.
