Aims & Scope
The Australian Journal of Applied Linguistics is a peer-reviewed international open access journal focussing on all areas of applied linguistics including natural and instructed second language acquisition, pragmatics, language learner identity, code-switching, translanguaging, language teaching methods, language change, language policy, language teacher education, approaches to language teaching and learning, the use of technology in language teaching and learning, theories of second language acquisition, cognitive and social aspects of language learning, and other relevant areas of research. Submissions about teaching, learning, and researching any human language or languages are welcome from any part of the world.

Peer Review Process
The Australian Journal of Applied Linguistics uses a double-blind peer review process where manuscripts that are sent out for review (i.e., those that pass through the initial check for length, quality, and relevance by the Editor-in-Chief) will be sent to at least two reviewers who will provide their feedback to the Editor-in-Chief in a timely manner, preferably within three weeks. In the case of a split decision, additional reviewers will be assigned to the manuscript to ensure a fair review process. Please note that this may delay the final outcome of the review. For special issues, the guest editor(s) of the issue will assign reviewers and recommend an outcome to the Editor-in-Chief, who makes the final decision about whether to accept the manuscript.
This special issue allows researchers and practitioners to delve into the intersection of emotions in digital spaces within applied linguistics. Our goal is to bring forth contributions that precisely concentrate on this digital-emotional nexus, shedding light on how emotions are elicited, processed, and expressed in the context of online language education.
